AMRT’s founders consist of equity investors in the United States while those directing operations are currently operating in South Africa, Greece and the UK.   The technology was co-invented by Dr. Kevin Perry, a Ph.D. metallurgist from South Africa, and Mr. Theuns Vermuelen an electrical engineer, also working in South Africa. 

Dr. Perry has over 30 year experience leading research in the areas of metallurgy and thermodynamics.  He has worked with prominent South African firms Mintek and JCI/Anglo Platinum.  Dr. Perry earned his BSc in Chemical Engineering, an MSc in Extractive Metallurgy and finally a PhD in Pyrometallurgy, all from University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.

Theuns Vermulen has gained 30 years of experience as an electrical engineer in South Africa and studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pretoria. 

South African entrepreneur Dimitrios Sykokis is the chief executive and majority owner of the company. Mr. Sykokis has a long history in founding and operating successful business, including a predecessor company to AMRT that recycled materials from gold mine dumps in order to harvest lost gold. Mr. Sykokis acquired 100% ownership of the AMRT intellectual property in 2000 and has contributed the ownership of this asset to AMRT Limited at the time of its founding in 2002. Mr. Sykokis is a Greek citizen and resident, although he has lived much of his life in South Africa. He studied business and commerce at the University of South Africa.

Other key members of the AMRT Team include Mr. Nick Bridges and Mr. Conley Cooke, both with extensive experience in the minerals and mining sector, and Mr. George Roussos and Mr. George Chatzistavris representing the economic and financial sectors. 

Dr. James A. Walker serves as Chairman of the Board.  Dr. Walker has been active in the wind energy industry for over 30 years, pioneering wind development in Greece, Turkey and Mexico.  Dr. Walker has served in the Office of Management and Budget, the California Energy Commission and is the current President of the American Wind Energy Association.  As CEO of enXco one of the world’s most successful wind energy companies, Dr. Walker led the development of wind projects in the U.S. totaling 450 MW.  As a principal of the Princeton Energy Group, he has successfully led many wind projects worldwide. Dr. Walker received his Doctorate in Decision and Control from Harvard Business School and a degree in physics cum laude from Princeton University.
